Job Assignments

How long are the assignments?

Lengths of employment vary from 8-26 weeks and sometimes longer depending on the needs of the facility. We will do everything we can to provide you with options after the assignment ends.

Is it possible to stay past the original assignment stated?

Yes, many of our assignments are extended. Just contact your recruiter.

How many hours a week are the assignments?

Most of the assignments are 36-40 hours per week. Many assignments guarantee 40 hours per week.

Can I decline an assignment?

Absolutely. You control how long and even where you want to travel.

How do I get the specifics of an assignment?

Your recruiter will discuss in detail the position, exceptions, equipment, call, etc... We always try to ensure that there is a fit between you and the facility so a phone interview is scheduled with the department supervisor or manager.

What if I don't like the facility/assignment?

Let your recruiter know. They will make every effort to replace you, and find you another assignment.

What happens if my assignment is cut short by the facility?

Our contracts with our facilities require notice. As there is a tremendous shortage, we expect to have you working again in an area of your choice.

If I am on a temporary assignment and get offered a permanent position, can I accept?

Yes, just contact your recruiter with the good news. This is a great way to find the right fit for you. Of course, if you are not interested in the position and want to continue traveling you are under no obligation to accept. The choice is entirely yours.

What if I have a family emergency and have to leave my assignment?

We understand you have personal needs outside of work. Please contact your recruiter immediately so we can help you attend to your family.

What do I need to get started?

First, fill out an ASK Medical Application and a Skills Checklist specific to your specialty. Our recruiters will evaluate your qualifications and contact you by phone to match you with assignments that complement your Allied Health training.

Are there minimum qualifications?

To be assigned by ASK Medical, you must be a graduate of a U.S. accredited allied healthcare program, hold a valid professional practice license or certification and present proof of the right to work in the United States.

Am I committed to working for ASK Medical when I fill out an application?

No. You are only committed to working with ASK Medical when you accept one of our assignments.

Is there a fee for this service?

No, there is no cost to you for our services.

Pay and Benefits

How often do I get paid? How can I receive my pay? Who signs my paychecks?

As an employee of ASK Medical, you will be paid weekly.  Employees can receive their paycheck via direct deposit or choose to have it mailed to you each week.

Are taxes taken out of my check?

Yes. As an ASK Medical employee, you will receive a W2 at the end of the year.

What are your pay rates?

ASK Medical offers a very competitive pay rate which varies by specialty and location. Some assignments pay bonuses, overtime and on-call differentials. Ask your recruiter for more details.

What is per diem?

It is a daily allowance to cover meals and incidental expenses while you are away from home. If you meet IRS guidelines, it is not taxed.

Do you provide bonuses?

Yes. Select assignments may offer bonuses based on location, contract length, or specialty. Speak to your recruiter for more information.

Do you offer referral bonuses?

Yes. You can receive a referral bonus – $500 for therapy specialties and $200 for imaging professionals – for referring candidates to ASK Medical. Once your referral completes a 13-week assignment, you will be eligible for the bonus. More travelers come to us through referrals from friends and colleagues than from any other source.

Housing and Travel

What type of housing is provided?

We provide all of our travelers with safe, private housing. Depending on your location, our travelers may stay in a hotel, corporate housing or a furnished apartment. Many times the facilities recommend housing where other travelers stay.

Who makes the travel/accommodation arrangements?

We have in-house housing coordinators who work exclusively for our travelers. Of course, your dedicated recruiter will make sure the process is smooth to ensure you have everything you need. Once you are confirmed for an assignment, our proven housing department coordinates your accommodations and travel.

What happens if I have a problem with my travel arrangements?

Contact your recruiter immediately. If a problem arises after business hours, your recruiter and/or housing coordinator are on call 24/7 to handle emergencies.

Can I travel with my family members and/or pet?

Yes, many of our employees travel with their family and their pets! All we ask is that you notify us in advance so we can secure the appropriate lodging and travel arrangements.

I don't need company housing. Do you offer an allowance?

Yes. If you arrange and pay for your own housing, you will receive a monthly housing stipend or subsidy. The subsidy varies by position and assignment location.

Licensure

If I need a state licensure, how do I obtain it?

ASK Medical can provide you with links to state applications and typical time frames for receiving authorization.

Who pays for it?

ASK Medical will reimburse you for the cost of the license on your first paycheck of your assignment. Be sure to discuss this with your recruiter.
